NFL Week 5

Respectable 10-5 despite some shocks. All is not well with the Packers with rumours of a rift between McCarthy and Rodgers. The Rams win a close one to continue their momentum. The Chiefs probably most impressive disposing of the Jaguars, but the Chargers are also starting to get it together. The Bengals staged a big comeback, whilst the Patriots are looking like the Pats of old. The Texans, Panthers, Bills, Browns, Cardinals and Jets all got wins that will ultimately be meaningless, whereas the Steelers crushed a woeful Atlanta who need to string a series of wins together. The Vikings are suddenly looking strong again – but they will need to in a competitive NFC North. Tempted to put the Steelers back in the play off picture – but let’s see how they do against the Bengals next week.

Week 6 Predictions

Bye week for the Lions and Saints – Lions can bask in the glory of their win over the Pack whilst Brees can get some much needed rest after his record breaking exploits.

Eagles at Giants EAGLES by 10

Giants had their chance at the Panthers, Eagles finally start getting their act together

Buccaneers at Falcons FALCONS by 14

Falcons get just what they need against a fading Bucs team

Panthers at Redskins REDSKINS by 4

Redskins have some threat – and should be enough to see off the Panthers who are inconsistent

Seahawks at Raiders SEAHAWKS by 3

Seahawks not the force they were but Raiders are also struggling – this one will be close only because of Raiders being at home

Colts at Jets COLTS by 7

Luck finally has a franchise game – can’t see the Jets having back to back big performances

Cardinals at Vikings VIKINGS by 10

Cardinals better than their early form suggests but Vikings looking to capitalise on last week’s win at Philly

Steelers at Bengals BENGALS by 3

Bengals to win at home as Big Ben’s old problems resurface

Chargers at Browns CHARGERS by 3

Chargers have momentum but Browns have not been swept aside by anyone this season – close one but Chargers experience sees them home

Bills at Texans TEXANS by 10

Bills struggle on the road as Texans try to build some momentum

Bears at Dolphins BEARS by 3

Dolphins let a big lead slip last week but should be better at home – Bears won’t be as dominant as they were against the Bucs but should have enough to win

Rams at Broncos RAMS by 10

Despite the imposing mile high stadium the Rams should easily see off the Broncos who are now struggling on both sides of the ball

Ravens at Titans TITANS by 3

Ravens often flatter to deceive and Titans should do better at home this week

Jaguars at Cowboys COWBOYS by 3

Home field advantage is just enough for the Cowboys as the Jaguars are still licking their wounds after last week

Chiefs at Patriots PATRIOTS by 10

Patriots really firing at the moment – and although Mahomes and the Chiefs have been equally impressive Foxboro will see their unbeaten run end

49ers at Packers PACKERS by 17

Packers are another team getting exactly what they need this week – a home game against an ailing 49ers

My predictions for the play offs (Bears replace Falcons and Titans replace Steelers for a wildcard spot)

Week 5 Summary

Colts at Patriots PATRIOTS by 14

Colts 24 Patriots 38

Colts hung in there but are flattered by a late touchdown – need to give Luck more time in the pocket

Patriots beginning to look like Superbowl contenders again – two picks were unlucky – Edelman looked like he had never been away

Titans at Bills TITANS by 5

Titans 12 Bills 13

Titans show their true form

Bills edge a close one – showing they maybe aren’t the worst team in the NFL – just one of the worst

Falcons at Steelers STEELERS by 3

Falcons 17 Steelers 41

Falcons have serious problems – already struggling to make the play offs

Steelers play well in all phases – but can they do it back to back?

Broncos at Jets BRONCOS by 4

Broncos 16 Jets 34

Broncos D fails to show up exposing a poor offense

Jets show a ruthless streak – Darnold gets his big performance – another who needs to show he can do it week after week

Jaguars at Chiefs CHIEFS by 3

Jaguars 14 Chiefs 30

Jaguars completely outplayed and have a tough assignment with the Patriots next week

Mahomes played well despite two INTs – just goes to show that the Chiefs are more than just their QB

Packers at Lions PACKERS by 10

Packers 23 Lions 31

Packers played a mistake riddled game – none worse than Crosby’s kicking woes – need to turn it around quickly

Lions dominated from the start but almost let the Packers back into it

Ravens at Browns BROWNS by 3

Ravens 9 Browns 12

Ravens restricted by tough Cleveland D

Browns rookie QB led a match winning drive – they continue to hang tough

Giants at Panthers GIANTS by 6

Giants 31 Panthers 33

Giants lost to a late field goal after staging a good comeback – don’t expect this every week

Panthers sneak one with a huge field goal – played ok at home but still a long way off being contenders

Dolphins at Bengals BENGALS by 10

Dolphins 17 Bengals 27

Dolphins got out to a fast start which flattered them – beginning to get found out

Bengals staged a great comeback – looking strong on both sides of the ball – for now

Raiders at Chargers CHARGERS by 7

Raiders 10 Chargers 26

Raiders rely too heavily on Derek Carr and will continue to struggle against better teams

Chargers getting on a roll – looking forward to seeing them in London

Cardinals at 49ers CARDINALS by 3

Cardinals 28 49ers 18

Cardinals get their first win and I expect them to get several more

49ers getting into a losing habit and struggling at QB

Vikings at Eagles EAGLES by 6

Vikings 23 Eagles 21

Vikings get a significant win – much needed but need to string 3 or 4 good games together

Eagles need to halt the slide quickly – fortunately their division is not too strong this year

Rams at Seahawks RAMS by 7

Rams 33 Seahawks 31

Rams came back to win a close one showing character as well as their obvious ability

Seahawks will always do well at home – just not good enough here

Cowboys at Texans TEXANS by 10

Cowboys 16 Texans 19

Truly awful game in which the Cowboys at least gave their punter some game time

Texans get a big win – but they need to up their game for challenges ahead

Redskins at Saints SAINTS by 12

Redskins 19 Saints 43

Redskins could not cope with supercharged Saints – expect better next week

Saints controlled the emotions of Brees’ record breaking well – and with Ingram back they are looking like contenders
