NFL Week 8

12-2 in a favourites week. The Rams continue unbeaten but the Packers showed some steel. The Texans took control of the AFC South, though the Colts continue to improve. The Seahawks and Panthers may yet contend, whilst the Eagles and Redskins look to fight out the NFC East. The Cardinals won a dead rubber, whilst the Bears, Bengals and Steelers all kept up their play off charge. The Vikings slipped up against the play off bound Saints, and the Chiefs consolidated their place at the head of the AFC West, as did the Patriots in the AFC East.

Week 9 Predictions

Bye week for the Bengals, Cardinals, Colts, Jaguars, Eagles, Giants

Raiders at 49ers 49ERS by 7

Carr could keep it close but 49ers get the win some of their recent performances deserve

Bears at Bills BEARS by 5

Bills D keep it close – Bears are keeping their noses in front in NFC North

Buccaneers at Panthers PANTHERS by 10

Fitzmagic shows why he was benched as Cam Newton and co keep in contention

Chiefs at Browns CHIEFS by 10

Browns need another win – but this won’t be it as Chiefs continue to roll

Jets at Dolphins DOLPHINS by 3

This is a coin toss with two poor teams – home field swings it for the fish

Steelers at Ravens RAVENS by 3

Flacco keeps the Ravens in the hunt as the Steelers trip up in a crucial divisional game

Lions at Vikings VIKINGS by 7

Another nail in the Lions coffin as the Vikings keep pace in their division

Falcons at Redskins FALCONS by 6

Ryan benefits from bye week as the Redskins slip up

Texans at Broncos TEXANS by 3

Texans have the momentum but Broncos have their home field – Texans win a close one

Chargers at Seahawks CHARGERS by 3

Another close match up – but Chargers coming off the bye have the edge

Rams at Saints SAINTS by 4

Saints expolit the Rams weakness against the run – bug game for Kamara as Saints upset the odds

Packers at Patriots PACKERS by 3

Rodgers and co make up for last week’s agonising loss by shocking the Patriots

Titans at Cowboys COWBOYS by 14

Blowout for the Cowboys at home against a very poor Titans team – this game will go a long way to proving it one way or the other

Week 8 Summary

Dolphins at Texans TEXANS by 7

Dolphins 23 Texans 42

Banged up Dolphins sinking fast – Tannehill may be back soon but is that really the answer?

Texans on a roll but getting rather thin after a series of injuries – Watson finally coming good and Miller beginning to regain his form

Eagles at Jaguars EAGLES by 17

Eagles 24 Jaguars 18

Eagles get a win that was easier than it looked – but not got them down as Superbowl contenders

Jaguars rapidly approaching rock bottom – how much longer can they persist with Bortles?

Broncos at Chiefs CHIEFS by 20

Broncos 23 Chiefs 30

Creditable from the Broncos who much prefer playing at home

Closer than it should have been but Chiefs were always in control – bigger tests ahead

Browns at Steelers STEELERS by 3

Browns 18 Steelers 33

Browns starting to rack up some big defeats – need another win to confirm their progress this season

Steelers have momentum on their side in AFC North

Redskins at Giants GIANTS by 6

Redskins 20 Giants 13

Redskins get a huge win in their division – Eagles and Cowboys will have taken note

Giants are better than a 1-6 record – maybe Manning (the removal of) is the answer

Seahawks at Lions SEAHAWKS by 4

Seahawks 28 Lions 14

Impressive win by the Seahawks who are putting together a better than expected season

Lions can’t afford defeats like this in tough division

Buccaneers at Bengals BENGALS by 10

Buccaneers 34 Bengals 37

Winston benched – Fitzmagic returns – couldn’t sustain the comeback and don’t expect a repeat any time soon

Bengals switched off and almost blew it – second consecutive wake up call?

Jets at Bears BEARS by 14

Jets 10 Bears 24

Jets downed again – could be after a first round draft pick

Bears keep up the pace in NFC North – some big games ahead

Ravens at Panthers PANTHERS by 7

Ravens 21 Panthers 36

Ravens drop back after a couple of big wins – inconsistency will keep them out of the play offs

Panthers impressive at home – not got the all round talent to do it on the road

Colts at Raiders COLTS by 7

Colts 42 Raiders 28

Is Luck really back? Hard to tell as he was only up against the Raiders

Whilst not convinced by Derek Carr he is the only weapon on a poor Raiders team

49ers at Cardinals 49ERS by 7

49ers 15 Cardinals 18

49ers suffer a big letdown after some encouraging performances – mediocrity beckons

Cardinals pull out a last gasp win – but there won’t be too many more

Packers at Rams RAMS by 7

Packers 27 Rams 29

Packers went toe to toe and were only foiled by a boneheaded play – will give them confidence for the tough stretch ahead

Rams were challenged and came out on top – but only through a big slice of luck – will opposing coaches now play on the their run defense weakness?

Saints at Vikings SAINTS by 5

Saints 30 Vikings 20

Saints get a huge win on the road proving that they are real contenders

Vikings disappointed with this – they are not quite top class just yet

Patriots at Bills PATRIOTS by 25

Patriots 25 Bills 6

Routine win for the Patriots who have a stellar matchup with the Packers next week – the Pack D will have noted the lack of touchdowns

Bills defended stoutly but were easily outclassed
