Divisional Play Offs
The NFL might be settling down! Only one shock last week – and what a shock. Not many predicted the Titans downing the Ravens, but I have been saying all along that Lamar Jackson is not an elite Quarterback. Then again, neither is Tannehill.
So what happened last week?
Predictions were 3-1 – but a lot of people got the Titans result wrong!
Vikings 10 49ers 27
Easier than expected for the 49ers. Cousins reverting to type. However, Garoppolo is also not elite, it’s the D that is getting the 49ers over the line.
Titans 28 Ravens 12
Or should that be Derrick Henry 28 Ravens 12? The Titans D didn’t need to play that well to stifle the Ravens. Mahomes, who has certainly got the tools to be elite, will be a different story.
Texans 31 Chiefs 51
Wild game, and the Chiefs showed that no lead is big enough. Watson fell short – a good QB but not elite, with a porous D and a shaky O-Line. Expect the Chiefs to get to Miami.
Seahawks 23 Packers 28
Packers by 5
Probably the closest game of the weekend – but expect Packers to hold on after building up a sizeable lead with Aaron Jones playing a major part.
I’m taking that as pretty much spot on!
Conference Championships preview
Titans at Chiefs
Chiefs by 24
This could get ugly. I expect the Chiefs to start a lot hotter than they did last week – and that may take away some of Henry’s effectiveness. Mahomes will pile on the pressure and it will be over before the end of the third.
Packers at 49ers
49ers by 7 (head)
Packers by 3 (heart)
My heart says Packers, head says 49ers based on what happened earlier in the season. I can see the Packers D stepping up and in a low scoring affair Rodgers leads a late game winning drive with no time for the 49ers to reply. Look for Jimmy Graham or Jake Kumerow to play a bigger role.
Play Offs
It could still be a Chiefs Packers Superbowl! But, they are the only 2 teams I got right in the Conference Championships.
