NFL Week 12

Week 12 cleared up a few issues and confirmed the 49ers and Ravens as genuine contenders. The Bengals are now so bad that they are reverting to their previously benched QB, whilst Derek Carr proved that its not so easy to step beyond the journeyman tag.

So what happened last week?

Predictions were 8-6 – a tough week – though it could get tougher with several meaningless games between now and the season finale.

Colts 17 Texans 20

Closer than I thought but ultimately the Texans have the division to lose. Colts should just about hang on for a wildcard.

Broncos 3 Bills 20

Easy for the Bills but they won’t have things their own way in Dallas on Thursday. Should do enough to secure that wildcard.

Giants 14 Bears 19

Giants are not a great team but have potential to do damage, and they were almost too good for the disappointing Bears. Apparently Trubisky is the future, so Chicago can expect continued mediocrity.

Steelers 16 Bengals 10

Steelers kept their play off hopes alive, but only just against a Bengals team who are now desperately relying on the return of Dalton to get them a W.

Dolphins 24 Browns 41

Can’t believe the Browns are still alive, but allowing 24 points against Miami shows that they have a long way to go before thinking about the play offs.

Buccaneers 35 Falcons 22

Not even going to comment on this. The Falcons revival was short lived – as will be the Bucs’.

Panthers 31 Saints 34

Masterful from the Saints but they will worry that the Panthers were a missed FG from a potential upset. The Panthers will just worry.

Seahawks 17 Eagles 9

Wentz can well and truly join Trubisky and Goff as the underwhelming QBs of the year. Seahawks roll on without looking like a dominant force.

Lions 16 Redskins 19

When the headlines are all about a selfie you can tell that the game does not really matter.

Raiders 3 Jets 34

Remember Le’Veon Bell? No one will want to face the Jets down the stretch. No one will mind facing the Raiders.

Jaguars 20 Titans 42

I did predict that this was unpredictable! Neither team will feature in the postseason, and neither looks to have a plan.

Cowboys 9 Patriots 13

Patriots did not look like their explosive selves, but Dallas were quite easily held in check. Elliott needs to put in a shift soon before the Cowboys fall much further. Fortunately they are in a dreadful division.

Packers 8 49ers 37

Incredible all round performance by the 49ers – though they still have two tough games ahead. This marked them as contenders, whilst confirming that the Packers are not quite there yet.

Ravens 45 Rams 6

Undoubtedly the biggest statement of the week. The Rams are a long way from last year’s vintage, but they are still quite capable. The Ravens tore them apart – and the question is who can bottle up Lamar Jackson?

Week 13 Preview

Bears at Lions

Bears by 6

Back to back wins for the Bears but let’s not get too excited about a victory over the Lions.

Bills at Cowboys

Cowboys by 14

The Cowboys finally get their mojo back as Elliott runs riot. The Bills look nervously over their shoulder.

Saints at Falcons

Saints by 10

Revenge for the Saints as they keep the pressure on the in the NFC.

Jets at Bengals

Jets by 7

Dalton at the helm still can’t get the win – but at least he generates some points.

Titans at Colts

Colts by 10

Colts dominate to keep up their play off hopes. Titans finally see theirs disappear for another year.

Eagles at Dolphins

Eagles by 10

Wentz gets some relief as the Dolphins roll over.

Packers at Giants

Packers by 10

Rodgers recovers from the disaster in San Francisco to keep ahead of Minnesota in the division.

Browns at Steelers

Browns by 12

Browns triumph against a team without a leader. Steelers falling farther behind in the play off hunt.

Redskins at Panthers

Panthers by 17

Panthers recover from a narrow loss – they cling to a play off hope but it won’t be for long.

Buccaneers at Jaguars

Buccaneers by 10

Another dreadful game and I will take Winston to have more good throws than bad (but only just).

49ers at Ravens

Ravens by 10

Well if ever a matchup screamed “Game Of The Week” this is it. 49ers become the latest team unable to stifle Jackson, but they will keep it closer than most.

Rams at Cardinals

Rams by 3

Rams almost get a shock, but their desperation will see them through.

Chargers at Broncos

Chargers by 10

Broncos are done. So are the Chargers. But the Chargers have Rivers.

Raiders at Chiefs

Chiefs by 21

Chiefs stick the final nail in the Raiders’ coffin as Mahomes approaches something near his best.

Patriots at Texans

Patriots by 8

Patriots force more mistakes form Watson and take another step towards home field advantage. Texans are once again looking nervously at the Colts.

Vikings at Seahawks

Seahawks by 10

Vikings hit another stumbling block as the Seahawks and their infamous 12th man expose Cousins and his overperforming offense.
